Vampires, Bulls and Bears, Oh My!

Vampires in Literature

As I’ve been on this journey, I’ve encountered demons. There are demons in our respective natures like pride and anger as well as some made possible and actively endorsed by certain belief systems. You know, like the one in The Exorcist? I’m a huge fan of fantasy literature. I believe it helps keep magic at the forefront of the things I believe in. I believe in magic. Not rabbits in a hat or card tricks, but I firmly believe in the magic of light and experienced and dark magic as well. I happen to believe there are spiritual demons as well as embodied demons wearing “skin suits” – that thing we wear during our time on this planet. I’ve encountered both.

Beauty in the Darkness

While I believe we are at one of the darkest crossroads in the history of our planet…again, I also believe that with great tension comes great change. I also believe in “the light.” That thing inside each of us that keeps our respective moral compasses pointed in the right direction. The thing that informs our destiny. Throughout my life, even while confronted with being a complete rebel and sometimes a complete jerk, I always find myself getting back on track via that compass. I had a brief love affair with cocaine in the late eighties, but the first time I lied in order to cover having stolen a little from our joint stash, I knew it was time to stop.

I got kicked out of band as a junior for stealing on a group trip to Disney World. Mind you, I didn’t get caught stealing, I was way too good for that. Alas, somebody told on me. But for me, stealing was a thrill sport and I only ever stole from companies. I would never steal from another person. One might call this justification, but it’s almost as if I’ve intrinsically known that companies have zero compunction about stealing from people. Must I say this here? Not ALL companies.

I digress, let’s talk about those demons – For me, they come in the form of corporate executives, boards, politicians, lobbyists, and the like. Wherever money talks, the demon called greed can be found. I can’t even count on all my fingers and toes the times I’ve heard, “They’re not even hiding anymore, they’re saying the things out loud and doing the things right in front of our eyes” and we still can’t believe it. Who are “they”? The vampires.

In classic literature, it is a well known fact that vampires are unable to see their reflection. I’m pretty sure the embodied demon has no interest in reflecting whatsoever and the average Joe citizen has been conditioned into looking away as well. Many of us have been cajoled and manipulated into believing that we will have less if people who have nothing have more. I’m a much bigger fan of the people who have nothing will have plenty if we get rid of the vampires. I’ve had this idea lately, “What if we just get rid of the bad guys?”

How do we do that? I don’t think we have to do a damn thing other than hang on to our respective moral compasses. The thing is, vampirism isn’t sustainable. They are doing it to themselves. How many chances does one get at reincarnation before their fate wins out over their destiny? If you’re not contributing to making the world a better place, what are you even doing here? I don’t know what percentage of the population just doesn’t come back, but I have faith it’s all going to work out. Most of those folks don’t believe in reincarnation anyway, so it’s not like they’ll notice, right? Poof! Now that’s magic I can get behind.

So what about those belief systems? I don’t believe in giving my power away to anything that truly doesn’t matter to me. People and the planet are the only things that really matter to me. I no longer give my energy to God(s), politics, the wealthy or those who aren’t committed to evolution. I recently read “Becoming” by Michelle Obama, and it was during the section where she talks about the election and how things just seemed to line up including the dissolution of the competition and most interesting to me, was the downfall of Lehman Brothers. Things just line up sometimes and I believe our respective destinies coupled with being in tune with our morality and humanity puts us in places to show up exactly when and where we’re meant to. It seems we didn’t learn a thing about putting our money into Investment Banking – yet. I believe there’s another big fall coming. Why? Because in the bigger picture, the vampires just can’t win, because vampires don’t quit. Investment banking is a vampire – shareholder capitalism is a vampire. Political ranting is a distraction created by the vampires. There can never be an appetite for solving policy issues as long as campaign finance exists, and there’s not a lot of folks talking about that. The news isn’t going to tell you, seems they’re owned by shareholders as well.

Is it possible for you to start noticing what’s really happening and guard against reliving tired old political indignations and start focusing on actually seeing the vampires? They say thoughts become things you know. Once you start to see, your destiny can and will take over if you’re open to seeing through the looking glass.

Here is a link to a great article in Texas Monthly. I have wondered more than once about the safety of the author. What flabbergasted me about what I read is again that people are actually saying the things out loud. This was the first time I actually read a quote where somebody said we need to keep people in their respective places in the hierarchy. Excuse me, what?!?

Here is a Wiki on Industrial Complexes.

We should be horrified.
